Post Covid-19 World: Pro People or Authoritarian?


The global Covid-19 Pandemic has not reached its peak and there is no vaccine for it yet is a mere restatement of a well-known fact. Many experts are also telling us, even when vaccine for it is found and the world controls it, such control will not be final eradication of the Corona virus and its spread will be a recurring phenomenon, with varying intensity for a long time. So, if it is going to stay, then most of the precautions will stay with us, some more permanent and for others the world will have to be always ready to go back to. The world will never be as it was again in all spheres of existence, however this essay points out some of the probabilities in the political space. Change means, increased pace of existing processes of change as well as reversal / change of direction of some processes.


The pandemic has strained the health infrastructure to its outer limits even in the developed world, however in developing countries it has/ is becoming unmanageable. Even if one goes by the official statistics of the less developed states, the less numbers does not mean less burden. They will soon reach the stage where they simply will not have enough infrastructural resources, even if they somehow manage financial resources, through aid or re-allocations.
